Inspiration

My inspiration is of course the outdoors, the wild places close to home at Peterhead - the sea, the shore, the cliffs, the haar, the changing weather and the drama of it all. Snow. The far north west of Scotland, the Highlands -  the places where the land meets the sea, the sky meets the hilltops, the mists, the bogs - the places where midges roam and therefore not many people do!  Sitting on a rock in a peaceful glen or a wild windy hilltop drawing quick sketches or a few strokes of watercolour to try and get the feel of a place - to hold the memory to recall back home in my workspace enough to produce a painting and hopefully convey the essence that so enthalled me at the time. Scotland has so much beauty I'll never run out of places to paint.
